John Parisella oeuvre dans le secteur des communications depuis plus de 25 ans. Il a occupé, entre autres, les fonctions de directeur général du Parti libéral du Québec, de chef de cabinet adjoint et de chef de cabinet des premiers ministres Robert Bourassa et Daniel Johnson (1986-1994). Président de l'agence BCP depuis 1999, associé principal et président de BCP Consultants , il est actuellement Conseiller spécial en Communications auprès du recteur de l'Université Concordia. De plus, John Parisella est régulièrement consulté par les médias et signe des articles dans les quotidiens et d'autres publications en tant qu'analyste politique.

John Parisella prend également part à plusieurs tribunes à titre de conférencier invité portant sur de nombreux sujets tel que l'éthique en affaires, la politique américaine, les relations entre le secteur public et le secteur privé, et l'évolution de la politique canadienne et québécoise. Il est également Gouverneur de l'Université Concordia et Président du comité des communications de Concordia, membre du conseil d'administration de la Chambre de Commerce du Montréal Métropolitain, membre du conseil d'administration du Théâtre du Rideau Vert, membre du Conseil d'administration du Cercle Canadien, Président de la campagne de financement de la faculté D'Arts et Sciences de Concordia, et membre du comité organisateur de la campagne de financement de la Fondation MIRA.

Biography Notes

John Parisella is President of BCP and BCP Consultants . He is responsible for all communication operations. He currently holds the title of Special Communications Advisor to the President of Concordia University where he is responsible for Marketing & Media Relations.

A well-known figure in the political and business sectors, John Parisella is considered one of the most experienced people in high level strategic communications, having worked in the field for more than 30 years. Few people in Canada have as vast an experience in strategic communications as he does. He acts as strategic communication consultant and crisis manager both for leaders in the private sector, and those in the public and para-public sectors.

He holds a Bachelor's degree in Political Science from Concordia University , a Master's degree in Political Science at McGill University , diplomas in Education and Administration from McGill University . Later, he obtained a certificate in Senior Government Management from Harvard University (John F. Kennedy School of Government).

John began his career at the Montreal Catholic School Commission as a teacher, eventually serving as head of the Social Sciences Department. In 1980, he became Regional Co-ordinator for the Quebec Liberal Party. In 1982, he was Employment and Commerce Program Director with Alliance Quebec and later became Regional Director ( Quebec ) of the Office of the Commissioner of Official Languages in 1983 until 1986. From 1986 through 1994, he held the position of Director General of the Quebec Liberal Party, Deputy Chief of Staff, and later Chief of Staff to Premiers Robert Bourassa and Daniel Johnson. During his years in the political arena, he was at the core decision-making for many crises such as St-Amable fire tires, Oka, Meech Lake and Charlottetown Accord. As well, he was implicated in about 15 electoral and 3 referenda campaigns. He has also taught Political Science at Concordia University and has been a guest lecturer at Queen's University in Kingston .

Over the years, he has developed an expertise on US politics, having participated actively in two primary elections in New-Hampshire (2000 & 2004) and one senatorial campaign. In January 2001 & 2005, he was a guest commentator of RDI in Washington (French news channel of CBC) for the U.S. Presidential Inauguration. He also was an analyst for 2004 Democratic Convention in Boston and the Republican Convention in New York . He is constantly sought out for his analysis in other media on this subject.

In 2004, on the eve of the US Presidential electoral campaign, he published a book entitled “Elections: Made in the USA” which he co-wrote with Donald Cuccioletta regarding the process of the American electoral system and how to better comprehend the major challenges of that campaign.

He appears, as political analyst on the major TV networks, and has contributed over 50 articles for the national daily newspapers and magazines. He is frequently asked to give speeches on such varied topics as ethics, governance, Quebec and Canadian politics and Canada-US relations. His expertise earned him the title of Analyst for the Quebec Political Scene for several public affairs programs. He also held the title of television commentator for “CBC Newsworld”, as well as hosting a weekly radio show for broadcaster “CJAD”, and acted as political columnist at “CKVL”. Currently, he is a regular analyst at 940 News in Montreal and CTV Montreal

John Parisella has been member of the Board of Governors of Concordia University from 1998 to 2005. He is currently member of the Consultation Committee of the School of Public Policy at Queen's University, associate-member of the Center for US studies, Raoul-Dandurand Chair, University of Québec at Montreal , and member of the following boards of directors: Board of Trade of Greater Montreal, Théâtre du Rideau Vert, Musée de la Pointe-à-Callière. He has also been involved in several other causes such as cystic fibrosis, multiple sclerosis and the Robert Bourassa Institute to fight against cancer as well as fund-raising campaigns for the Mira Foundation and the Faculty of Arts and Sciences of Concordia University.
